They'll save you, sizing is bonkers
I'm 4'11", 145-155, 29 or 30 in denim. I had Dakine women's DH pads I loved, size M. I had to get an XL in these for fit, and they still might be too tight around the very top of my thigh since they encompass my entire leg. No idea how anyone much larger than me could wear them. Men with big quads? No way. Where are the women's pads? Did I miss them?
Their size chart is spot on.
New color drop. The topo graphic 3d is rad. Highly recommend
I bought size medium for
I bought size medium for my son and relied on the size chart. They are way to small. Even my daughter who is ten, can't fit her foot through. I will need to replace them.
Improved coverage, adjustment period required
I loved the previous version of the Slayer. The sleeves grew longer in this contemporary version yet still are easy to pedal in, though I wish the opening behind the knee had remained part of the design - those hamstring tendons are having to get used to more attention. The longer sleeve length above the knee seems to allow for more pad stability while the sleeve slips down with pedaling. My legs are on the skinny side - so I thought - but I'm filling out Larges and I think I was a Medium in the last version. All in all I'm very pleased. Thanks Dakine for making rad gear, sponsoring awesome riders and supporting all the incredible content you do.
They changed the sizes
Just received a medium in the mail, thought it was a men's medium turns out to be a unisex medium which was wayy too small. I love there slayer pro mens but they appear to have changed the sizing so that that size guide is no longer the least bit accurate.
Not my cup of tea
I found the sizing was too small, so it was uncomfortable fit. However, the construction and materials appeared to be quality. I wanted to order the lighter version, but it has been out of stock forever. Prolly on a lost ship from the orient.
Best bang for your buck
Great protection at a great price. I like to slide them down to my anoles for the climb, and pull them into position for downhill protection.
Great Knee Pads
These are the best pads for the money! They’re slim and breathable, very comfortable, and the molded knee pad fits nicely. I highly reccomend this product.
Sorry not so good
Tight and not comfortable. The pad offers good protection, but it's long and not flexible so it's irritating on the shin as it pokes into it. Haven't used them on a ride because I was too afraid to try them and not be able to sell or return. The size is ok but needs a better design to fit better. Not Dakine's strongest product.
Not pedal friendly
Ah, well, I bought these as the most "pedal-friendly and breathable" option on Dakine's site, but these are certainly not either of those things. Probably my bad for thinking they'd be more long ride, all terrain XC appropriate as opposed to "all-mountain." My erroneous expectations aside, I find the actual pad to be extremely rigid and uncomfortable. Particularly the lower edge of the pad where it meets my mid-shin. I actually have another older pair of Dakine knee pads that have more of a gel-pad protection that are far more pedal friendly. So I'm back to to using those! Hope this review helps.
