MAXIMUM STORAGE IN A 5-LITER HIP PACK
With storage capacity comparable to small backpack-style options, Hot Laps 5L is a capable hip pack, complete with two-liter Hydrapak® 3D lumbar reservoir and additional space to stow a gamut of gear on your rides. Its redesign now provides a fleece-lined pocket on the padded hip belt to conveniently stow a phone or sunglasses. The main compartment features organization for tools, food, and a light shell, while lower straps deploy to hold pads. Side compression straps keeps the load close as the water reservoir is emptied, and a breathable AirFlow back panel does away with hotspots and minimizes sweat.

Great quality
Haven't ridden with it yet, but it has lots of storage and it's very comfortable.
Love it!
This is my 1st waist pack, absolutely perfect for medium rides where I want to stash some water and tools. Strap works well and stays put. My one ask is for something a bit different than the magnet to secure the mouthpiece. The magnet works fine but it can be tough to secure when not looking while riding. I rigged up a good solution using a retractable ID holder. You will love this pack!
Great bag. Perfect size
I've had the bag for about a year. It's been great. Fits everything I need and keeps me hydrated.
Awesome Bag
Bought this bag a little over a year ago and absolutely love it. Solid design, tough (it's been through a few falls and crashes) and enough room for tools, snacks, doggo poop bags etc. The hydration pack is nice. The webbing on the outside, so that you can strap or clip other items on, is nice.
Hydrabag poor design
Advertised as plug and play. But hose is not removable, not easy to clean at all. Will be gross and garbage quickly! Will need to remove hose from bag it self or bring mud covered bag into kitchen to wash. Bag it self seems good. Overall, I am disappointed as I purchased it for hydration purposes.
Versatility
I love this pack! It's great for biking, hiking, running. It holds all the gear I need and plenty of water for any activity.
DaKiNE Da BoYZ uSE
All black Dakine sport hip paCk. It’s ma JaM! If you’re in the scene and keeping it clean- then that’s all I have to say. Grateful to the core for DaKiNE. I was born in 1979. No coincidence. It just feels right.
It's the best waist bag on the market
It looks great and feels like a hug around my waist. Great volume. I got the black but I wished there had been an all tan/brown/leather.
pack fits small waists
Gave up backpack for hit belt for MTB. My neck is loving the waist pack. Great pack for small waisted people as I'm 24". Has just the right amount of storage for H2O, pump, tube, coat and food.
Great bag!

I have been using this pack for 2 seasons - it's completely alleviated the back pain I used to get with a backpack on longer ascents/climbs before going downhill, and I love how much stuff it fits + the 2L reservoir. The problem is it bounces and moves around a lot on me - I'm a woman, so maybe that's it - was designed for men's hips/waist proportions maybe? For fast, steep rides it's bouncing up and down a tonne and working it's way slowly around my waste so doesn't actually feel safe or secure for the downhill parts of my rides. What can I do about it?
Hi - I just got this (Fire Mountain). After I secure the waist strap to the proper size, the fit and length does not lock into place. I can very easily pull the long part of the strap and it loosens right up. On my first ride it would hang off my backside only after a couple minutes of riding. Is this common? Any ideas what I could be doing wrong? Seems strange and I'm wondering there is an issue with the side release plastic buckle on my pack. Thanks.
What is the hip belt diameter? My son has an older version of this that I can't use, so I'm curious if the hip belt redesign makes this an option for me now?
I’m interested in the Hot Laps 5L, but wondering if it could double as an everyday pack. Can it be worn crossbody, particularly if the reservoir was removed? Cheers
What are the difference between the OS and SE size?
Does the current model have the pockets for storing bottles on the exterior?
Does is come with the reservoir?
Correct! The Hot Laps 5L is paired with the 2L / 70oz lumbar reservoir. Thanks, Mike
Does Dakine make this bag without the bladder. I've heard it's not removeable and have no use for it. Thanks.
All Hot Laps 5Ls are paired with the bladder. Yes, it can be removed!
Need to know what your lifetime warranty covers as one of my internal pockets on my hot laps 5L pack is literally coming apart. I don't over stuff this pack as it doesn't carry a whole lot. I've had this pack now for about 3 yrs. Also, as a side note, after having used this pack for a solid year, I had some potential recommendations to make it even better, but your R&D group completely blew me off. I'm a very serious mountain biker with over 30 yrs experience in riding and also what works well and what doesn't. Good to see that some of my potential recommendations I had for the pack made it into the Seeker 6L hip pack.
Hi Kyle, I'm sorry your Hot Laps 5L is falling apart. I would recommend reaching out to our warranty department at warranty@dakine.com
Are there extensions for the belt to make it longer?
Hi Chris, Unfortunately, we do not have an extension piece for the waist belt for this bag. However, we have redesigned and extended the belt's length for this upcoming Spring 2022 catalog. Cheers! Dakine.com
